WMATA halts its Metro bus service due to a severe winter storm, affecting routes until Monday. Rail service remains limited.

WASHINGTON — Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority is suspending its Metro bus and Metro Access service amid a severe winter storm, citing impassable roads.

Bus service will shut down at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday and resume at 6 a.m. on Monday with limited service.

They say service will expand as road conditions improve.

Officials say Metro Access will continue to provide “medically essential” trips Sunday, Jan. 25, through Jan. 26, but other Access trips are canceled until noon on Monday.

The rail will continue with reduced service Sunday night and open on Monday at 6 a.m., running on a Sunday schedule.

You can check WMATA’s website to confirm whether your route will be operating normally. You can also check MetroAlerts and the MetroPulse app.
